Research suggests that Adults with strong social connections have been known to have reduced risk of many significant health problems. We understand that residents need more support than ever before. We want to ensure that you can find the support you need easily by just answering a few questions. Please read through the statements at the start of the table to see what support may suit you best.

social Prescribing
we have a Social Prescribing service that connects local people with services and community activities for practical and emotional support. People who sign up to the service will be assigned a Link Worker who will offer support tailored around what matters to you. The services takes a holistic approach to improving people's health and wellbeing, and helps people build their confidence and motivation to overcome barriers being faced.

befriending Support and Community Groups
Friends for You
This local community group is run by volunteers and is providing telephone befriending support for Chorley residents who are lonely or isolated. They have several social groups across the week called "Talkin Tables". This is free to access. To contact the group, see below

Chorley Buddies

Community Groups
Chorley has an ever-growing voluntary sector that has a host of different community groups and organisations across the borough. These can be anything such as befriending groups, running and walking groups, crafts groups, faith groups, groups that promote health and wellbeing, groups that tackle social isolation or groups that support those with the cost of living. There is a group out there for everyone. If you are looking to join a community group that suits your hobbies and interests and not sure where to start looking, please contact the Communities team at Chorley Council on 01257 515151. Our Community Engagement Officers will be more than happy to help.
If there is not a community group out there that suits you and you feel like you would want to start your own group, then this is something the Communities team can also help with. They can give you support to help the group become constituted so you can apply for funding, they can help with marketing and finding other like-minded individuals that have the same interests as you.
